Since its foundation more than a 160 years ago, the name of Goodricke has always been part of the firm and has come a long way since John Richardson Goodricke first hung his board here in the little town of D’Urban.
The firm’s growth from small beginnings to its present strength could not have been achieved unless its members had, throughout the years, indeed not only sold real professional skills but also lent their integrity.
Iain attended the University of Natal where he read for and obtained a Bachelor of Arts and LL.B. Iain joined Goodrickes in 1982 and has been a partner since 1985. He specialises in commercial, civil, labour and education law. He is also a Conveyancer and has right of appearance in the High Court.
Aidan attended the University of Natal where he read for and obtained a Bachelor of Arts and LL.B. as well as a PG Dip (Taxation) and is a Notary Public. Aidan commenced his articles at the firm in 1987, returned in 1992, and he has been a partner for over 18 years. He specialises in all areas of the law of succession, such as drafting of wills and administration of estates.
Lizl attended the University of Pretoria where she read for and obtained her LL.B. (Cum Laude). She further attended the University of Leiden, where she obtained her LL.M. in European and International Business Law. She joined Goodrickes as an associate in 2012 and specialises in family, civil and commercial law. She also acts as a correspondent for various attorneys across South Africa. Lizl is an accredited Mediator, having obtained accreditation from the Centre for Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the United Kingdom and is a Trustee of the Durban Botanic Gardens Trust.
Thobani attended the University of KwaZulu Natal where he read for and obtained a LL.B. He joined the firm in 2013 as a candidate attorney and has stayed on as an associate. He joined the firm in 2013 and specialises in asset foreclosures and debt recovery proceedings.
Ashley attended the University of Natal and Cape Town University where she read for and obtained a Bachelor of Arts and LLB. She is a registered Conveyancer and Notary Public and specialises in the law of property.
Robin attended the University of South Africa where he read for and obtained his Bachelor of Arts, where after he obtained his LL.B. at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He joined Goodrickes in 2014 as a candidate attorney and has stayed on as an associate, specialising in insurance, criminal law and debt collection.
Siziphiwe attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg) where she read for and obtained a LL.B. as well as a LL.M. in Business Law. She has a keen interest in labour law and assists the partners as well as the associates.
The firm has a support staff of 13 people which includes legal secretaries, bookkeepers, messengers and conveyancing paralegals. They assist the professional staff to provide the best possible service to all our clients.
